Do you know what? Over 2 million posts are published every day on the WordPress website. We don’t know whether these posts are indexed by Google.

If we want to stand out of these 2 million posts, Obviously we need On-Page SEO to rank better in SERP.

Before going to On-Page SEO Techniques, We need to see the meaning of SEO.

What is SEO?

I know you all aware of the abbreviation of SEO (Search Engine Optimization). SEO is a very important topic when coming to digital marketing. It defines the process of increasing the traffic in quantity and quality-wise to our website or a web page organically or naturally.

As I mentioned above, what are all the things, we need to be optimized to get rank in first page of search engine result page?

In order to make our post-show up in the top ten results in SERP, We have to optimize the content, website, and design. To customize or optimize the content, we need the On-Page SEO Technique.

What is On-Page SEO?

On-Page SEO in the sense things which are optimized inside the website and that process helped us to rank on the first page of the SERP. There are some eight ways to be carried out to do On-Page SEO. If you follow the technique which I have given below, You can able to rank better on the Search Engine Result Page.

  • Post the High-Quality Content

Always write the content for an audience not for sake of publishing the content. It doesn’t give any result to rank in SERP.

The content should be long-form content with 1500 to 2000 words with in-depth details about the search queries. The content should include images, infographics, and videos in order to attract people’s attention. Try to avoid writing the content with only text.

Then, the content should be unique content without any plagiarism in it. The plagiarism content doesn’t give ranking in SERP itself.

  • Page Title and Meta-Description Optimization

Always keep in mind that your page title should be given as an H1 tag. Most of the websites will take the title as an H1 tag. If the option is formulated in the website platform, we have to go and edit the Html code. This Html code is available in all website creation platforms.

From the above image, you can able to understand the meta-description. The content given under the page title is called as meta-description.

You have to give the most relevant, informative, and Scrip text in meta-description. Because it leads to increase visibility among the people who search for that particular key-word.

If you are not giving any description for an article or post which you are publishing, It automatically takes the text from anywhere of the content that process we technically call it a snippet. A snippet in the sense, 2 or 4 lines taken from the article and shown in the meta-description.

  • Optimizing the Heading Inside the Content.

The title of the article or page title is given as H1 tag, the sub-topic is given as H2 tag, and the minor heading under sub-topic is given as H3 tag.

Why we need to given our content title which I mentioned above tags in the sense, Search engine spider doesn’t know the text language. All it knows only the machine language. If we are giving a different tag for a different title, it may recognize and differentiate the heading and title.

In the view of the audience who read the article feels bore, If we give everything in the same size of the text.

  • Content optimization

Content optimisation includes text, image, video and infographics . In first point itself, we have seen how to optimise the text and how to write content.

Here, we will see how to optimize the image. Image optimization is choosing the right related to the article. While uploading the image, It should be less than 200 KB. If the image file has more than the limit, it tends to reduce the page speed.

Try to create the original image using canva.com and any other sources. Give alt-txt (Description of the image) and image caption to the image that you upload in the content. Alt-txt is very important, sometime it may help your image to show up in google image. By clicking the image, visitors may come to your website.

Embedding the YouTube video in the content to make the visitor understand better. Either you create your own video and post it. Or you can post the popular video from YouTube and embed them in content.

Info-graphic is the visual representation of test, data, or knowledge in an easy manner. It helps people understand easily.

  • Doing keyword research

It is very important to see what people actually search for. There are a few tools that help us to find the right keyword for making the content.

There is some chrome extension that helps to find the right keywords such as Keywords Everywhere and keyword surfer.

Ahrefs, Google keyword planner, keyowrdtool.io, Ubersuggest, SEMRush, Keyword setup (from google ads),. The given six tools are often used by most people to find the correct keyword to make the website better ranking in SERP.

  • Optimization of URL:

Customizing the URL has two parts. The first part is named Domain and the second part is called URL-Slug. We cant change our domain name but we can change the second part that is URL-slug. It is good to keep our page title or post title in the URL-slug.

The domain and URL-Slug are commonly named as permalink (permanent link). Once you fix the permalink, It should not change. We change or update the content inside the link (permalink). The permalink should have 255 characters to rank better on the first page of SERP.

In the above-mentioned URL slug, The awkward letter was shown in the permalink. It is difficult to remember and type in URL. We have to optimize when we are posting the article on our website.

  • Internal Linking the pages

An internal link is a concept of linking the pages inside the website. More internal links, more chance to better ranking in SERP.

If we want to index our website on the first page of SERP, We must have at least 5 to 6 internal links on a page. It shouldn’t be more than 15 internal links on a page ( It is my view of opinion, These numbers of links are not given in any researches or sources).

If we don’t link our pages, the search engine spider just comes and crawl our website and it will consider our website as a less content website. Once you do link the page internally in the website which helps search engine spider to crawl all pages that are inside our website. It understands that this website has a bunch of valuable content and we need to index this website in SERP.

  • Does Page Speed Affects SEO?

Since 2010, Google has included page speed as one of the important factors to rank better in SERP. The responsive page speed is less than 3 seconds.

It has two categories, Page speed, and site speed. Page speed is the time taken for which the particular page loads and displays to the audience. Site speed is nothing but the length of the time for which that particular site loads and shows it to an audience. Site speed is always more than the page speed. Because the Site consists of lots of pages inside it. It takes a little more time than page speed.

Page speed is also one of the ranking factors while coming to SEO. In order to increase the speed of the page, we can compress and upload the image.

If you are using WordPress, We have a WP smush Pro plugin to speed up our website or individual page. If you are using other than WordPress, there are some external tools like compressor.io, caesium and mass image compressor, etc.
